Windows says it protected your PC. Is that normal?
Yes, it is normal. SnipBolt is not code-signed, because code signing requires a paid yearly certificate. SmartScreen shows that warning for any unsigned installer, regardless of whether it is safe.
To continue, click "More info" →"Run anyway". The app has no telemetry — your snippets and typing never leave your PC.
What about my antivirus?
SnipBolt uses a global keyboard hook (required to detect abbreviations) and SendInput (to write the expanded text). Some antivirus tools — especiallyKaspersky — interfere with those APIs.
If expansions fail or output strange characters, addSnipBolt.exe to your antivirus trusted applications list. Detailed instructions are included in the installer.
Where is my data stored?
Everything in %LocalAppData%\SnipBolt\:snippets.db (SQLite),settings.json, Backups\, andLogs\. Nothing is sent to any server — the app is 100% offline.
How do I upgrade to Pro later?
Buy Pro from Pricing, receive an email with your license key, and paste it into Settings → License inside the app. Done: unlimited snippets, RichText, C# scripts, hotkeys, and sync across machines.
Coming from SnippetFlow (the previous name)?
The installer detects your previous installation and upgrades it in place. Your snippets, settings, and backups are automatically migrated from %LocalAppData%\SnippetFlow to %LocalAppData%\SnipBolt on first launch.
